We work with skilled artists in various fields creating garments for our clients. Our main area of expertise uses hand-made techniques through each production process. From hand-dying and printing to sewing, quality control, checking and packing. These age-old techniques of hand-made production not only create beautiful, unique garments they also support an expansive network of artisans, our teams and their families.
Ensuring that each process within the production chain runs smoothly, you can rest assured knowing that you will receive high-quality finished garments ready to sell to your clients.
Please see a brief outline below of our Production process and the steps included in bringing your brand and visions to life. For a more comprehensive overview of these processes please enquire to our team at info@juladesigns.com
The start of the production process begins with the concept and design of the pieces the client wants to create.
Designs can be drawn as sketches, as computer-automated designs (CAD’s) or inspiration can be sent in the form of samples / images.
Once finalised, the pieces will need to be accompanied with a Spec Sheet – this sheet helps our pattern makers in bringing the garment to life.
We ask our clients to have all of this prepared as a minimum to start the journey with Jula.
Should you need help with creating designs or spec sheets, our dedicated team is able to assist with this.
Once designs have been confirmed, the next step in the process is fabric selections. We have relationships with the best fabric suppliers on the island and are constantly updated with new fabrications to stay on trend for each season.
We cross-check prices and availability with all of our suppliers to ensure we are giving the best selection for the requested fabrics.
Fabric swatches are then compiled based on the clients request and swatches sent to be reviewed.
We work with skilled artists that can create the artwork clients desire using screen-printing. This technique is done by layering each screen with each layer being a different colour. All screen printing is done by our team of technicians by hand. As it is a delicate process artwork for screen printing is usually achievable for a maximum of 8 colours. Screen colours are fixed by the sun therefore require a hot, sunny climate.
We are able to achieve digital artwork if requested by clients.
For designs in plain colours, we are able to achieve whatever colour is requested. We typically work with Pantone colour references for our teams. Our print colourists are able to come as close as possible to requested colours however we do work with a 10% variance in colour for approvals for both Print Artwork & Plain Colours. All colours and prints are approved by the client before proceeding with production.
Fit samples are created using the sketches, CADs or samples provided by clients and are typically created with plain fabric to achieve the desired fit. This fit sample is used for adjustments and changes to the garment.
Jula allows for multiple revisions to fit samples. Revisions to designs are best navigated through using a fit model. Fit samples can be sent to clients for revisions when requested.
All samples are usually prepared in size Small (US Standard Sizing) unless otherwise requested.
Once fit samples have been approved, this final set of samples are provided to the client.
Patterns are created per item once final samples are approved. Each pattern is made based on the style of the garment with additional size grading patterns made for each size. Sizing is typically categorised using the US Standard Sizing of size XS – L.
If a client requires specific size grading Jula can accommodate this.
Below is a brief outline of our lead times from sampling to production:
The above lead times can vary depending on the following:
Jula is able to create all labelling for garments including; clothing labels, care labels and swing tags as well as any other additional label requests. Graphic artwork needs to be provided for our team to create samples and work from. Should clients require assistance by our graphic team we are able to do so.
Garments are packaged using cellophane packaging. Cellophane packaging is a thin, transparent sheet made of regenerated cellulose meaning that it is bio-degradable. If clients have specific packaging, they would like to use aside from cellophane packaging Jula is able to assist with arranging this.
